Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Oscar Wilde by Dexter Dalwood was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 41,422.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Dexter Dalwood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Brian Jones' Swimming Pool in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 144,000.00 (€ 213,474.83).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Oscar Wilde von Dexter Dalwood kam im November 2015 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 41.422,08) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dexter Dalwood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Brian Jones' Swimming Pool im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 144.000,00 (€ 213.474,83).
