It achieved a price of USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,491.36), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aref El Rayess achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jeddah (Al Shatek el Hadi) (The Calm Shore) in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 137,000.00 (€ 127,548.65).

Die Arbeit Naître C'Est Commencer À Mourir von Aref El Rayess wurde im März 2011 in der Auktion Contemporary Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 10.625,00 (€ 7.491,36) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Aref El Rayess erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Jeddah (Al Shatek el Hadi) (The Calm Shore) im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.000,00 (€ 127.548,65).
