Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Aref El Rayess was auctioned at Christies in Dubai in March 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,410.89). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Aref El Rayess - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Jeddah (Al Shatek el Hadi) (The Calm Shore), which sold at auction in March 2015 for USD 137,000.00 (€ 127,548.65).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Aref El Rayess im März 2016 bei Christies in Dubai versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.410,89) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Aref El Rayess mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Jeddah (Al Shatek el Hadi) (The Calm Shore) beobachtet, die im März 2015 für USD 137.000,00 (€ 127.548,65) versteigert wurde.
