Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Beijing Wa Wa - Sparkter by Zhang Hui was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,125.00 (€ 864.72). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zhang Hui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Miraculous Slop Analysis 1 in May 2014 with an auction result of HKD 525,000.00 (€ 49,651.76).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Beijing Wa Wa - Sparkter von Zhang Hui im Juni 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.125,00 (€ 864,72) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Zhang Hui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Miraculous Slop Analysis 1 im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 525.000,00 (€ 49.651,76).
