Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work A Rake's Progress by William Hogarth. The price achieved of GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,132.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hogarth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pugilist: A Quarterstaff Player, almost certainly James Figg (1684-1734) in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 375,000.00 (€ 418,908.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Rake's Progress von William Hogarth zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.020,00 (€ 1.132,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hogarth erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pugilist: A Quarterstaff Player, almost certainly James Figg (1684-1734) im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 375.000,00 (€ 418.908,42).
