Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Four Times of the Day: Morning, Noon, Evening, Night by William Hogarth was sold in the Studio Art auction at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in December last year. It changed hands for a price of USD 1,147.50 (€ 1,072.63) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hogarth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pugilist: A Quarterstaff Player, almost certainly James Figg (1684-1734) in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 375,000.00 (€ 418,908.42).

Die Arbeit The Four Times of the Day: Morning, Noon, Evening, Night von William Hogarth wurde im Dezember letzten Jahres in der Auktion Studio Art bei Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 1.147,50 (€ 1.072,63) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hogarth erzielen.
