Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2017 Christies in London held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The Harlot's Progress by William Hogarth. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,127.07). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hogarth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pugilist: A Quarterstaff Player, almost certainly James Figg (1684-1734) in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 375,000.00 (€ 418,908.42).
