Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hostess Ii by William H. Bailey was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 46,875.00 (€ 37,119.89). Other works by William H. Bailey have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2015 by the work Silent Plain at USD 81,250.00 (€ 73,903.95).
