In May 2019 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Room by the Sea by William H. Bailey. The »bidding war« ended at USD 55,000.00 (€ 49,331.78), 38% above the upper estimate. Other works by William H. Bailey have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 81,250.00 (€ 73,903.95) in May 2015 for the work Silent Plain.
