Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Four-Sided Picture (Myrb) by Walead Beshty was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 13,987.50). Admittedly, works by Walead Beshty have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fedex® Kraft Box© 2005 FEDEX 330504 REV 10/05 SSCC, Standard Overnight, Los Angeles-Beverly Hills, trk# 8726 7182 8553, date February 13-14 2012; Standard Overnight, San Francisco-Beverly Hills, trk# 8759 1171 4523, date January 29-30 2013; Interna in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 79,951.77).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Four-Sided Picture (Myrb) von Walead Beshty im Oktober 2015 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 10.000,00 (€ 13.987,50) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walead Beshty auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fedex® Kraft Box© 2005 FEDEX 330504 REV 10/05 SSCC, Standard Overnight, Los Angeles-Beverly Hills, trk# 8726 7182 8553, date February 13-14 2012; Standard Overnight, San Francisco-Beverly Hills, trk# 8759 1171 4523, date January 29-30 2013; Interna im Juni 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.500,00 (€ 79.951,77).
