Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marginalis (Los Angeles, California, August 1–30, 2014) by Walead Beshty was auctioned at Phillips in 7 - in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,350.00 (€ 5,740.37). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walead Beshty achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fedex® Kraft Box© 2005 FEDEX 330504 REV 10/05 SSCC, Standard Overnight, Los Angeles-Beverly Hills, trk# 8726 7182 8553, date February 13-14 2012; Standard Overnight, San Francisco-Beverly Hills, trk# 8759 1171 4523, date January 29-30 2013; Interna in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 79,951.77)

Als die Arbeit Marginalis (Los Angeles, California, August 1–30, 2014) von Walead Beshty im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Phillips in 7 - versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.350,00 (€ 5.740,37) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walead Beshty erzielen.
