Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Egg by Tim Hawkinson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 32,760.00 (€ 26,865.67). Other works by Tim Hawkinson have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2011 by the work H.M.S.O at USD 68,500.00 (€ 50,918.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Egg von Tim Hawkinson im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 32.760,00 (€ 26.865,67) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Tim Hawkinson wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November 2011 die Arbeit H.M.S.O mit USD 68.500,00 (€ 50.918,01).
