Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Chicken), 1996 by Tim Hawkinson was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 956.25 (€ 816.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tim Hawkinson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work H.M.S.O in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 68,500.00 (€ 50,918.01).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Chicken), 1996 von Tim Hawkinson im September 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 956,25 (€ 816,05) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Tim Hawkinson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit H.M.S.O im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 68.500,00 (€ 50.918,01).
