drypoint, 1928, on wove paper, seventeenth or eighteenth state (of nineteen), signed in pencil, one of a total of 151 copies in all, with margins, a very small abrasion in the lower image, with pale light- and mount-staining, unobtrusive scattered foxing in the margins, remains of old glue to the right sheet edge on the reverse, with associated discolouration, otherwise in good condition, framed

This artwork by David Muirhead Bone achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2008. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Manhattan Excavation (Campbell & Dodgson 390) sold for GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,844.08) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Muirhead Bone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Soho Square, London, which sold at auction in June 2001 for GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,783.59).

Dieses Kunstwerk von David Muirhead Bone erzielte im Juni 2008 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wurde die Arbeit Manhattan Excavation (Campbell & Dodgson 390) für GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.844,08) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von David Muirhead Bone mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Soho Square, London beobachtet, die im Juni 2001 für GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.783,59) versteigert wurde.
