Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Edible Manhattan by Sebastian Black was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,600.00 (€ 10,729.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sebastian Black - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chess Sickness, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,287.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Edible Manhattan von Sebastian Black kam im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 10.729,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Sebastian Black mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Chess Sickness beobachtet, die im Mai 2015 für USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.287,61) versteigert wurde.
