Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Machine for Twang Twang Twang by Sebastian Black was auctioned at Christies in Paris in July this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,520.00 (€ 2,940.08). Admittedly, works by Sebastian Black have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chess Sickness in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,287.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Machine for Twang Twang Twang von Sebastian Black im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.520,00 (€ 2.940,08) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sebastian Black auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chess Sickness im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.287,61).
