Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Concrete End Tables by Scott Burton was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 24,000.00 (€ 19,434.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Scott Burton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pair of Granite Chairs in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two Concrete End Tables von Scott Burton im Mai 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 24.000,00 (€ 19.434,77) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Scott Burton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pair of Granite Chairs im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 156.500,00 (€ 224.744,30).
