In May 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Blue Inner Band by Mary Corse. The result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 35,922.77) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mary Corse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (White/Black Inner Band Beveled) in December 2020 with an auction result of HKD 5,000,000.00 (€ 527,391.66).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Blue Inner Band von Mary Corse zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 35.922,77) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mary Corse erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (White/Black Inner Band Beveled) im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.000.000,00 (€ 527.391,66).
