Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (White Inner Band with White Sides, Beveled) by Mary Corse was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 1,764,000.00 (€ 213,280.44). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mary Corse - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (White/Black Inner Band Beveled), which sold at auction in December 2020 for HKD 5,000,000.00 (€ 527,391.66).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (White Inner Band with White Sides, Beveled) von Mary Corse im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 1.764.000,00 (€ 213.280,44) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Mary Corse mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (White/Black Inner Band Beveled) beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für HKD 5.000.000,00 (€ 527.391,66) versteigert wurde.
