Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Subway by Mark Rothko was sold in the Contemporary Curated auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. It changed hands for a price of USD 189,000.00 (€ 162,273.55) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Rothko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work No. 10 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Subway von Mark Rothko wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Contemporary Curated bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 189.000,00 (€ 162.273,55) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mark Rothko erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit No. 10 im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.925.000,00 (€ 74.517.918,86).
