Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May last year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included this untitled work by Mark Rothko. Here, the upper estimate of USD 8,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 8,435,000.00 (€ 7,860,404.44). Admittedly, works by Mark Rothko have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work No. 10 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mark Rothko zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 8.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 8.435.000,00 (€ 7.860.404,44) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mark Rothko auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit No. 10 im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.925.000,00 (€ 74.517.918,86).
