In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Day Auction, which included the work Quicksand by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. The »bidding war« ended at USD 504,000.00 (€ 469,667.32), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Highpower, which sold at auction in October last year for GBP 1,482,000.00 (€ 1,726,513.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Quicksand von Lynette Yiadom-Boakye zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 504.000,00 (€ 469.667,32) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Lynette Yiadom-Boakye mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Highpower beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für GBP 1.482.000,00 (€ 1.726.513,59) versteigert wurde.
