Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Estrutura De Caixas De Fósforos Vermelho (7 Caixas) by Lygia Clark was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The price achieved of USD 176,400.00 (€ 144,661.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lygia Clark achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Contra Relevo (Objeto N. 7) in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 2,225,000.00 (€ 1,713,119.80).

Die Arbeit Estrutura De Caixas De Fósforos Vermelho (7 Caixas) von Lygia Clark kam im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 176.400,00 (€ 144.661,31) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lygia Clark erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Contra Relevo (Objeto N. 7) im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.225.000,00 (€ 1.713.119,80).
