Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Espaço Modulado No. 6 by Lygia Clark was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 700,000.00 – 900,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 746,000.00 (€ 611,776.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lygia Clark - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Contra Relevo (Objeto N. 7), which sold at auction in May 2013 for USD 2,225,000.00 (€ 1,713,119.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Espaço Modulado No. 6 von Lygia Clark kam im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 700.000,00 – 900.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 746.000,00 (€ 611.776,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Lygia Clark mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Contra Relevo (Objeto N. 7) beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für USD 2.225.000,00 (€ 1.713.119,80) versteigert wurde.
