In May 2011 Phillips in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Part II, which included the work Virgen by Lothar Hempel. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,750.00 (€ 3,304.12), 58% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Lothar Hempel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Casanova in October 2010 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,295.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2011 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Virgen von Lothar Hempel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.750,00 (€ 3.304,12) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lothar Hempel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Casanova im Oktober 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.295,24).
