In October 2021 Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Sixth Stone I (S. 6, F. 6-A) by Lee Bontecou. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,930.00 (€ 5,998.96), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Bontecou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May this year with an auction result of USD 8,690,000.00 (€ 8,156,560.92).
