Auction result misses estimated price range
In November last year a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled, from Ten from Leo Castelli by Lee Bontecou for USD 1,134.00 (€ 1,098.52). This price was achieved in the auction A Graphic Century including French Impressions: Prints from Ambroise Vollard and Henri M. Petiet at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Bontecou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May this year with an auction result of USD 8,690,000.00 (€ 8,156,560.92).
