In July 2019 Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Online, which included the work Grand Canyon, Arizona (monolithic plateau), 1987 by Tseng Kwong Chi. The »bidding war« ended at USD 9,375.00 (€ 8,423.18), 34% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tseng Kwong Chi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jean-Michel Basquiat, New York, 1987 in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 125,000.00 (€ 110,746.88).
