Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sem Título (para Chillida) by Julião Sarmento was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,425.63). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julião Sarmento - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Emma 4, which sold at auction in February 2004 for GBP 50,190.00 (€ 74,936.04).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sem Título (para Chillida) von Julião Sarmento im Juni 2013 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 18.000,00 – 22.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.425,63) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Julião Sarmento mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Emma 4 beobachtet, die im Februar 2004 für GBP 50.190,00 (€ 74.936,04) versteigert wurde.
