In May 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Ornament And Crime: Loos, Haerdtl And Hoffmann (White) by Josiah Mcelheny. The »bidding war« ended at USD 86,500.00 (€ 69,961.18), 24% above the upper estimate. Other works by Josiah Mcelheny have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 146,500.00 (€ 101,905.95) in May 2011 for the work EARLY MODERNISM MIRRORED AND REFLECTED INFINITELY.
