Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lilly Reich (and Wilhem Wagenfeld), Blue by Josiah Mcelheny was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,794.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Josiah Mcelheny - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work EARLY MODERNISM MIRRORED AND REFLECTED INFINITELY, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 146,500.00 (€ 101,905.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Lilly Reich (and Wilhem Wagenfeld), Blue von Josiah Mcelheny kam im Mai 2015 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.794,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Josiah Mcelheny mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit EARLY MODERNISM MIRRORED AND REFLECTED INFINITELY beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für USD 146.500,00 (€ 101.905,95) versteigert wurde.
