Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Building the Bridge, at Cologne (Wuerth 389) by Joseph Pennell for USD 180.00 (€ 141.88). This price was achieved in the auction Prints and Multiples at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 300.00 – 500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Pennell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York from Brooklyn; and The City in 1915 (Wuerth 671; and 679) in February 2002 with an auction result of USD 2,232.50 (€ 2,578.54).
