six etchings, 1915, all on laid paper, three inking variants of each image, all signed in pencil, (W. 671) numbered '34', '39' and '69' respectively in ink at either the lower right or upper left corner, all with wide margins, (W. 679) one numbered '43' in ink at the lower right, all with very soft handling creases and pale surface soiling in the margins, a few with wear at the extreme margin edges, otherwise generally in very good condition (6)

The work New York from Brooklyn; and The City in 1915 (Wuerth 671; and 679) by Joseph Pennell was sold in the Prints auction at Christies in New York in February 2002. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,232.50 (€ 2,578.54), 49% above the upper estimate. With this result, New York from Brooklyn; and The City in 1915 (Wuerth 671; and 679) is even the most expensive work of art by Joseph Pennell that we have observed at auctions so far.
