Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Satan In Council (Campbell-Wees 87) by John Martin. Here, the upper estimate of USD 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 4,375.00 (€ 4,142.21). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,725,000.00 (€ 3,863,134.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Satan In Council (Campbell-Wees 87) von John Martin zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 4.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 4.375,00 (€ 4.142,21) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Martin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.725.000,00 (€ 3.863.134,75).
