Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A classical scene with a soldier rescuing a mother and child by John Martin was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Bonhams in London in April last year. The price achieved of GBP 2,550.00 (€ 3,040.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,725,000.00 (€ 3,863,134.75).

Die Arbeit A classical scene with a soldier rescuing a mother and child von John Martin wurde im April letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.550,00 (€ 3.040,78) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Martin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.725.000,00 (€ 3.863.134,75).
