Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Figures in a classical landscape by John Martin was sold in the 300 Years Of British Drawings auction at Christies in London in December 2020. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 6,981.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,725,000.00 (€ 3,863,134.75).
