This artwork by John Martin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2018. In the Old Masters Day Sale auction, the work Edwin And Angelina, Or The Hermit sold for GBP 150,000.00 (€ 167,113.30) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,725,000.00 (€ 3,863,134.75).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Martin erzielte im Dezember 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Edwin And Angelina, Or The Hermit für GBP 150.000,00 (€ 167.113,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Martin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Celestial City And The River Of Bliss im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.725.000,00 (€ 3.863.134,75).
