Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Land Fall by John Gibson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 250.00 (€ 220.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Gibson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A WHITE MARBLE BUST OF GEORGE WATSON TAYLOR in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,290.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Land Fall von John Gibson im Oktober 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 250,00 (€ 220,61) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Gibson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A WHITE MARBLE BUST OF GEORGE WATSON TAYLOR im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.290,90).
