Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Stacked Columns And Ball by John Gibson was sold in the A Life of Discovery: Works from The Allan Stone Collection | Contemporary Art Online auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,055.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Gibson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A WHITE MARBLE BUST OF GEORGE WATSON TAYLOR in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,290.90).
