Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Gertrude Abercrombie achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in May this year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction, the work Shell sold for USD 63,500.00 (€ 59,602.03) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gertrude Abercrombie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Giraffe in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 365,400.00 (€ 299,655.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gertrude Abercrombie erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Shell für USD 63.500,00 (€ 59.602,03) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gertrude Abercrombie auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Giraffe im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 365.400,00 (€ 299.655,57).
