Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2011 Christies in New York held the auction First Open Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Crossbow by Gary Hill. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 44,066.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gary Hill - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Crossbow, which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 169,000.00 (€ 115,059.91).
