Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Johns Big Figure Five (Study) by Elaine Sturtevant was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in New York in November last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 592,200.00 (€ 573,670.44), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Elaine Sturtevant have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warhol Diptych in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,093,000.00 (€ 4,632,526.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Johns Big Figure Five (Study) von Elaine Sturtevant wurde im November letzten Jahres in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 592.200,00 (€ 573.670,44) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elaine Sturtevant auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Warhol Diptych im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.093.000,00 (€ 4.632.526,83).
