In May this year Christies in New York held the auction A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I, which included the work Johns Painting with Two Balls by Elaine Sturtevant. The »bidding war« ended at USD 882,000.00 (€ 827,858.08), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Elaine Sturtevant have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warhol Diptych in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,093,000.00 (€ 4,632,526.83).

Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Johns Painting with Two Balls von Elaine Sturtevant zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 882.000,00 (€ 827.858,08) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elaine Sturtevant auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Warhol Diptych im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.093.000,00 (€ 4.632.526,83).
