Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Warhol Four Marilyns by Elaine Sturtevant was sold in the 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 315,000.00 (€ 361,707.51) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elaine Sturtevant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Warhol Diptych in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,093,000.00 (€ 4,632,526.83).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Warhol Four Marilyns von Elaine Sturtevant wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 315.000,00 (€ 361.707,51) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Elaine Sturtevant erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Warhol Diptych im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.093.000,00 (€ 4.632.526,83).
