This artwork by Edward Kienholz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in July 2020. In the Contemporary Art | New York auction, the work America My Hometown sold for USD 56,250.00 (€ 47,774.76) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Kienholz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Future as an Afterthought, which sold at auction in May 2003 for USD 141,900.00 (€ 120,601.73).
