This artwork by Derek Jarman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2013. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art auction, the work First Happening: Gold, 7 November 1969 sold for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,587.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Derek Jarman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sightless, which sold at auction in October 2001 for GBP 18,800.00 (€ 30,383.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Derek Jarman erzielte im April 2013 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit First Happening: Gold, 7 November 1969 für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.587,97) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Derek Jarman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sightless beobachtet, die im Oktober 2001 für GBP 18.800,00 (€ 30.383,54) versteigert wurde.
