In September 2013 Christies in London held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Incubation by Derek Jarman. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,700.54), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Derek Jarman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sightless, which sold at auction in October 2001 for GBP 18,800.00 (€ 30,383.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im September 2013 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Incubation von Derek Jarman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.625,00 (€ 12.700,54) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Derek Jarman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sightless beobachtet, die im Oktober 2001 für GBP 18.800,00 (€ 30.383,54) versteigert wurde.
