Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Cleve Gray achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2018. In the The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints auction, the work Phoenicia sold for USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,927.64) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cleve Gray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Remembering Chi Pai Shih No. 2, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 27,720.00 (€ 24,988.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cleve Gray erzielte im Oktober 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints wurde die Arbeit Phoenicia für USD 11.250,00 (€ 9.927,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cleve Gray mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Remembering Chi Pai Shih No. 2 beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 27.720,00 (€ 24.988,73) versteigert wurde.
