In December 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work Zen Gardens #22, 1982 by Cleve Gray. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,837.50 (€ 12,106.45), 67% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cleve Gray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Remembering Chi Pai Shih No. 2, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 27,720.00 (€ 24,988.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Zen Gardens #22, 1982 von Cleve Gray zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.837,50 (€ 12.106,45) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Cleve Gray mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Remembering Chi Pai Shih No. 2 beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 27.720,00 (€ 24.988,73) versteigert wurde.
