Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sleepers Awake #13 by Cleve Gray was sold in the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in July 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,870.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cleve Gray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Remembering Chi Pai Shih No. 2, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 27,720.00 (€ 24,988.73).
